Whether it is putting two parts of a puzzle together, building a tower with a few cubes, screwing, unscrewing, following a path with their fingers or pushing the right key of a xylophone, “play” requires a lot of effort from your child.
Respecting their preferences and leaving them free to try things out, even if the play materials are used in an unusual way, will allow them to assert themselves successfully.
